| Welcome
new MSOA parents!
We
are looking forward to another great year at Bak MSOA! I hope everyone
has is enjoying their summer! My name is Debbie Klopp, and this will be
my 6th year as volunteer coordinator for the school. I have a 10th and
an 11th grader who both attended Bak MSOA, and I have a 7th grader
at Bak this year as well! Over the course of the school year, I will
be populating this website with all the different events we have going
on, and the types of volunteer help that we need. When you see something
you might be interested in helping with, just drop me an email and we can
set it up!
I would like to encourage all of you to come into the school any time
and fill out a volunteer registration form. The district requires that
everyone fill out a new one every year. SSN and DOB are a MUST on these
forms, so please do not leave that information out!
Our school recommends (this is NOTa requirement) that each family
put in a minimum of 20 volunteer hours over the course of the school year.
This is mainly for your benefit - it lets you get to know the campus, the
teachers, and the students themselves. Plus, it's a lot of fun! We have
a monthly newsletter, several dances, lots of field trips, clerical needs
in the front office, ticket/merchandise sales during lunch hours, weekend
workdays, and many other opportunities available to suit every schedule.
We also try to match volunteers to indivdual teachers at the beginning
of the year whenever possible so that we can accommodate the teachers and
volunteers as well!
We also need volunteers for the EG2 art gallery in City Place. This gallery
displays our visual art students' artwork, as well as artwork from Dreyfoos
and other schools throughout the district from time to time. It is usually
open from 4-8 from Wed-Sun and is A LOT of fun to work in! We have several
'openings' throughout the year when new works are displayed, and out volunteers
typically coordinate the openings as well. If you are interested in the
gallery and would like to work there for a day or 2, please email Lea Jefferson
at curatorlea@yahoo.com. Be sure to give her your name and phone number
so that she can all you!
As you can see, we always have LOTS going on at Bak MSOA, and it is truly
our wonderful parents who help us to do all the extra things we do! Your
kids will have a wonderful experience here. My older kids still talk about
the trips they
took,
the great dances, and the fun projects they did.
Please log all of your volunteer hours on the volunteer computer
in the front office. We get credit for every hour you donate! We always
try for the Five Star School Award, the Gold School Award, and the Silver
School Award, and we always win them! Help us keep it up!
This website and our volunteer email network are the vehicles we use to
let you know all of the volunteer opportunities and events at our school.
I try to update the site at least once a month, and you will find the links
to the right to be very helpful. I also try to include information that
you might not get from your child (unless you want to dig through backpacks)
like picture days, progress report dates, etc. Don't forget edline as another
source of information!
